Descriptive Paragraph

The Texas American War started when the Mexicans told the Americans that the border was south of the Rio Grande the Americans thought it was north of the Rio Grande. This was just an excuse President Polk used to go to war to capture the gold in California. At the Rio Grande
a small group of American Troops were killed by the Mexicans and President Polk declared War.After a huge American Army at Fort Texas was surronded and destroyed Commander of American Forces General Taylor rode to recapture the Fort. However, Arista the commander of Mexican Forces intercepted Taylor at Poli Asti. However the Americans would prevail in a close victory. At Buenta Vista the American win was anything but close.The day was may 11 1846 the war had started april 24 1846. On June 15th 1846 the Americans captured California. Then Taylor forced a blockade which almost won the war. However Santa Anna a former dictator in exile said if the blockade let him through he would bring peace. Taylor let him in just to find out Santa Anna was new commander and his army had snuck out of the blockade with Annas new troops.Polk was furious at Taylor. Then Santa Anna oblitered Americans at
San Antonio. Taylor fought with Anna at Montermy and was winning but had less troops so he negotiated a draw. Despite Taylor dominating Mexico at Shiloh ,Polk had had enough. He replaced Taylor with General Winfriend Scott. Scott destroyed the Mexicans in Buenta Vista losing onl 200 men while the Mexicans lost 1,000. The win at Puebela was similar as the Mexicans lost 1,000 troops agian while Scotts army only lost 400. Santa Anna prepared a final defense of Mexico City with his last 10,000 troops the Americans 40,000 actually lost more troops but the Mexicans couldn't defend their city ending the War.
